Skeptical? You should be.
But we’ve helped over 600,000 kids already through our YouTube channel alone — and this camp is the next level.
This isn’t a random playlist or app. It’s a confidence-building experience that sticks.
91% of parents want their children to learn coding, but most don’t know where to start.
Children who code are 17% more likely to excel in problem-solving and logic at school.
And yet, most kids only copy others’ code — never building the understanding to create something of their own.
💡 Project-based learning — your child creates one full game, step by step
🚀 Daily lessons — short, easy to follow, and non-overwhelming
🚑 Access to help and encouragement — PLUS the chance for peers to help others
💬 Safe community support — a moderated forum for inspiration and shares
🏆 Progress Awards
— with gamification to keep motivation high
🎮 Showcase at the end — a huge confidence boost with global visibility
We’ve all been there - stuck between letting kids game endlessly or forcing them off screens entirely. But what if their screen time could actually fuel their potential?
Your kid loves playing games - Minecraft, Roblox, Scratch, YouTube tutorials.
But the moment you ask, “So what did you learn?” …
You get a shrug. Or silence.
Here’s what you might be feeling:
😫 Frustrated that screen time feels like a waste (but taking it away causes a meltdown)
😕 Torn between letting them have fun and wanting them to build real-world skills
😩 Overwhelmed trying to find resources that are age-appropriate and actually teach something
🫣 Worried they’ll fall behind or miss out on opportunities because they’re just copying tutorials
You’ve probably tried:
Signing them up for random YouTube playlists
Buying books they never opened
Letting them "figure it out" on Scratch
Or downloading apps that promise to teach coding, but… don't really.
None of it has stuck.
Because kids don’t just want to watch.
They want to create.
And they want to feel proud of what they made.
💬 "I signed my son up just to keep him busy… but now he’s the one teaching me how games work." Emma R., parent of 10-year-old
💬 "He used to watch YouTube tutorials. Now he’s actually building his own games. It’s a complete mindset shift." David T., parent of 12-year-old
💬 "It’s not just a course - it’s a community. My son found his people here." Michelle L., parent of 8-year-old
💬 "My son is autistic and struggles in group settings - but here, he thrived. The calm structure and creative focus made him feel safe, seen, and successful." Laura M., parent of 11-year-old
Because great parents don’t just limit screen time — they make it meaningful.
Don’t just want “busy time” or another ticked box?
We want to raise resilient, creative, capable kids — children who know how to think for themselves, solve problems, and feel proud of their progress.
This is about more than learning to code.
It’s about building the kind of confidence that sticks.
When your child:
Turns an idea into something real
Overcomes a bug after trying five times
Shares their project with others
Sees what they’re truly capable of
.…they start to carry that mindset into every part of life.
That’s when coding becomes more than a skill - it becomes a spark.
A spark of self-belief.
A spark of independence.
A spark of, “I can do this.”
And that’s what really matters.
Love games and want to build their own
Are curious or creative (even if they’ve never coded before)
Learn best with structure, not chaos
Want a new way to use screens for good
If they’ve got imagination and a keyboard, they’re in.
💬 "It felt like magic—my child was engaged, learning, and didn’t need constant supervision. Worth every penny." Josh W., parent of 11-year-old
💬"I wish every child could experience this. It’s creative, rigorous, and deeply engaging—everything good education should be." Mr. Thompson, Year 6 ICT Teacher
💬"For once, no meltdowns. Just joy, focus, and pride in what he built. That’s rare—and priceless." Rebecca C., parent of 8-year-old
💬"My daughter has been too ill to attend school for months. This camp gave her a reason to get out of bed—with purpose and a smile." Helen W., parent of 10-year-old
Your child logs on excited each day, follows step by step video lessons (no jargon, no confusion), asks a smart question in the comments, finishes a level they coded themselves - and then comes running to show you what they built.
They're not just “playing” anymore - they're thinking like a coder. Solving problems. Testing. Tweaking. And hopefully beaming with pride.
That’s the power of giving them a real project, a clear path, and a supportive space to learn.
And that’s exactly what our Summer Coding Camp delivers.
I’m not just a YouTuber. I’m a dad, a lifelong coder, and someone who knows what it’s like to fall in love with building games.
Hi, I’m Griffpatch — the #1 Scratch coder on YouTube.
Over the past few years, millions of kids have followed along with my tutorials, building games step by step.
And I’ve seen something powerful in that: Copying isn’t the problem. In fact, I believe we learn best when we copy — with intention.
BUT What’s been missing from most platforms is the why.
When kids understand why they’re doing what they’re doing — not just clicking blocks, but seeing the logic behind it — something shifts.
They begin to think for themselves. They start to create.
That’s what this camp is all about.
When I first learned to code, I wasn’t following formal lessons. I was experimenting, building, breaking things, and starting again — because I loved it. And I’ve discovered that a hands-on, project-based approach lights that same spark for kids today.
Especially for neurodiverse learners, or those who don’t thrive in traditional classrooms, this way of learning works.
It gives them a starting point, a clear path, and permission to take it further.
So I created this camp to:
♥️ Give kids a real project they can finish — and be proud of
♥️ Show them the why behind what they build
♥️ Spark the confidence to start making games on their own
This camp is my way of passing the torch — helping the next generation of game builders shift from copying… to understanding… to creating.
And I’ve seen it again and again:
When a child builds their first full game, something clicks.
They feel empowered.
They start thinking like a coder.
They become creators.
That’s the magic I want for your child too.

I'm an adult and I know how to code in other languages, but I still watch your videos, because having to translate the simple blocks into real code gives me a better understanding of how and why it works, than copying stuff off of Github or Stack Overflow. Thanks for all your help Griffpatch
Carli (Student)
Your tutorials are fantastic! Although I've been on scratch for over 4 years, your tutorials still teach me new stuff. Your tutorials are really easy for anyone to understand- making the code very customizable! A key part of tutorials is explaining why you need that piece of code, how it works, and the like. Some people will just sit there telling you what to do- but not why it works. Thank you for being such an influential scratcher. Please keep it up! Plus: I'm looking forward to a new tutorial past this- possibly a roguelike? ;)
Mountain Tiger (Student)
Amazing video as before in this series. I started doing scratch and then moved on to C# and Unity and even in a more advanced language i still am learning things from you. You Rock Griffpatch ⚡ And out of all the videos uploaded by subscribers in my list i always watch your first!
Dawn (Student)
I love these tutorials! I'm a computer science student now, but my original interest in programming came from Scratch. The way you explain how things work in these videos is amazing, it's done in a way that even beginner Scratchers can pick up on, and I still find myself learning new and better ways to organize my code from them. I love seeing how much Scratch can really do...
@user-yg3ub7vx9l (Student)
I had 5 online teachers who taught me game design, yet i found Griffpatch and i learned more stuff from his videos more than all of my old teachers combined i love ur videos! :D
Johanna (Student)
BEST TEACHER EVERRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jane (Student)
When Griffpatch is way smarter than your computing teacher (fr we did scratch and she knew nothing about scratch)
Jama
(Student)
Thank you Griffpatch for the tutorials :) you have improved the scratch experience for people and you are the only reason I got into programming! Even if you don't read this, I just want to write a thank you note. love from South Africa
Bob (Student)
Your Scratch tutorials are unmatched. I think you've found a perfect balance between keeping the videos a certain length and making sure the viewer understands what they're doing. I usually watch the tutorials before following them so I have a general idea of what I'm going to have to do when I eventually follow them. Keep doing what you're doing, because you're doing an incredible job. :)
I feel smarter after watching your videos. Thank you!

When was 9 found your account on Scratch, you amazed me with what you could do with it and inspired me to start teaching myself how to code. Now I'm finishing my 2nd semester of CS at university and am loving it still. Just wanted to say thank you for inspiring me as a kid.
Jordan
(Student)
I think everything about your videos is great. They are the right pace with the right amount of explanation. I wouldn't even mind if they were longer! I always learn the most and retain the information using your tutorials! I always ask myself when I am stuck on a coding problem: what would Griffpatch do!
Chieseledboockshelf(Student)
Can you be my math teacher?
Vixioelol (Student)
If Griffpatch were my computer science teacher that would be my favourite class

9 months ago I just found that you made a channel as I wanted to thank you. I followed your work as a kid and it defo was a big part of what sparked my interest in programming. years on and my interest is still going strong. Hopefully going to university for computer science next year. So yeah thanks.

Just want to say thanks for all the amazing tutorials. My son was off school for a a few days with an illness and we worked together to see who could finish as much of the mario platformer as possible. Loads of fun! He said he's learned way more doing your tutorials than he would have at school lol
Eayuwna (Parent)
Thank you for all your efforts. My 9 year old son is now the king of his code club having followed your tutorial and has started asking me to teach him what sin, cos and tan are - wish me luck ;-) Your content is so well put together thank you so much.
Jean-Baptiste (Parent)
The pace is great. Sometimes we follow along with my son and sometimes we just watch you work your magic together. I can’t overstate the positive impact you have on my 7yo son, he loves you and we bond watching your videos.
Daniel (Parent)
I am loving this series as my daughter is having great fun making gardens and house interiors with the editor.
Steve (Parent)
Pace is great! We pause frequently but sometimes keep up. I’d rather that than too slow. My 11-yo and I are coding the rpg series together (each on separate computers) and it has been great quality time. He has done and loved many of your other videos. When I don’t follow the rationale of the script, I hit the back arrow for 10 or 20 second rewind and listen again after I have the code in place. Of course, my son gets it all the first time, sometimes even predicting what you’ll do next
Mike (Grandparent)
As a retired electrical engineer... who has been coding for the last 50 years I have gone through the learning curve of becoming productive in a new programming language multiple times... My grandson and I have been getting together once or twice a week for over a year to develop our Scratch skills. Your video approach has allowed us to learn more about productive Scratch coding in the last 3 months than all we did in the previous year. You have a gift for explaining complex graphics concepts in terms that your followers can understand and adapt as we experiment with your code. You should feel good knowing how much you are contributing to the positive development of a whole generation of Scratchers.
George (Parent)
I am a Software Developer with over 30 years experience, but my son prefers learning from you :) And he really became very good with your videos and scratch. Thank you for your valuable work.
Riteshshivhare156 (Parent)
My son just LOVES this SO MUCH!!!!!!
Calogiga (Parent)
So many many many thanks for sharing your knowledge... Now, as a father, I have a mission to simplify all of this to explain this clearly to my daughter (12 years old) : she's coding and playing with me with Scratch. Many many thanks...
gitavianvs (Parent)
My daughter loves your works. She inspired by you to be a game programmer
Stragejason (Parent)
Hi Grif, I’m not sure if you will see this, but I wanted to let you know, my son of 9 years old, screamed with excitement about your new series, your videos have inspired and helped him learn scratch and it just blows our minds. Anyways, William say hello and thank you.
JohnW (Teacher)
Hey Griffpatch, thanks for everything you've done for the Scratch education community! You helped me understand how platformers (among other things) work, and now as an educator, I use your projects and tutorials to help get my students excited about coding too! I'm also able to use what I learned studying your programs around 9 years ago to help teach my students. Thank you so much - your work is incredible!
Rousagenciapublicitaria4268 (Teacher)
Thank you for teaching me how to make geometry dash since my students wanted to make one
GeekSHO (Coding Teacher)
This is amazing! Griffpatch, please know how incredible your projects are, but also these video contributions to the community. I teach computer programming, and I often use Scratch for many of my students. These tutorials help me teach students some really cool tricks.
DeanYeats (Teacher)
I appreciate the smaller contained tutorials. I teach groups of students and often see them attempt your longer tutorials and quit a few videos in. Recently I've seen them thrilled to show off the car steering and ball physics ones they've completed. Thank you for all your doing. You are bringing smiles to students and teachers faces worldwide by introducing them to the joys of programming.
Taylor (Teacher)
Great tutorials! I am a teacher using them with my students.
Eden (Coding Teacher)
Hi there, I am a teacher and am using your tutorials with my code club I think the pace of the videos is perfect. The pupils and I follow along pausing when needed and rewinding if necessary. The theory at the beginning along with the additional theory throughout the video is why I use your tutorials, it explains what you are doing in a way that the children understand.
kronicali24 (Teacher)
I had taught basic scratch games to my summer school students, they really loved it. I am surprised how far it has come since.
SPHSPHSPH (Coding Teacher)
As a middle school teacher making scratch vids for my 10-13 year old students, it's a pleasure to have high level stuff being made that helps me as a teacher learn how to do things! I feel like there's only 3-5 other people consistently making high level Scratch content for advanced folks. Love it! :D
Pat (Coding Teacher)
I have a student who wants to add robot arms to her robot sprite that rotates like true shoulder and elbow joints (we are studying the human body) how do I help her with this without a whole lot of variables (she is in grade 5 and I am her coding teacher)
Rob (Teacher)
@griffpatch I'm a teacher and I'm loving all of this! I am hoping to introduce it to some of my middle school computer students.
Spartan (Teacher)
Hi Griffpatch, I urgently need help as I am planning a lesson for my students that is happening very soon... Please help!
Absolutely. The camp is designed for kids aged 7–14, with no prior coding experience needed. We walk them through each step clearly, and they’ll build their skills lesson by lesson — with no pressure.
No problem! Lessons are pre-recorded and drip-fed daily (Monday to Friday), and your child can complete them at any time during the 2-week camp. Plus, we’ve built in weekends as catch-up days.
Our lessons are designed for kids to follow independently — though younger ones (7–9) might benefit from a little encouragement or help at the start. Most parents love seeing what their child creates without needing to hover but please understand that for young children, parents and guardians are responsible for their interactions online.
100%. We have a team of moderators and ambassadors! And we use a moderated private forum where kids can share progress, and get support. No public comments or unsafe chats here.
The Coding Camp Hub closes after the event, but your child will keep all the downloadable PDFs — and if you're a Griffpatch Academy member, you’ll keep access to all recordings inside your member vault.
No catch — just a belief that every child should have the chance to learn coding in a fun and empowering way. This price makes it accessible while still covering the cost of our team and tech.
The Summer Coding Camp is a 2-week virtual event where kids learn to code by following a step-by-step project. Each weekday, we’ll release a new lesson, with weekends free to catch up. It’s creative, fun, and designed for kids aged 7–99.
The camp runs over two weeks, Monday to Friday. Content is drip-fed daily and available all day, so your child can work at their own pace. Once the camp ends, access to lessons and the forum will close.
All lessons and bonus videos are pre-recorded so your child can follow along anytime. We may choose to host a live session if we feel it’s safe and suitable, but attendance will always be optional.
Yes. If your child is under 16 years old, a parent or guardian must sign them up. This helps protect your child’s data and keeps us compliant with privacy laws like COPPA and GDPR.
The camp is a paid event and requires a one time investment of $20 USD. Because we deliver instant access to digital content, we do not offer refunds for any reason.
Our private forum is a safe space where participants can: Share tips and ideasConnect with other kids and mentors. All posts are moderated. We expect everyone to be kind, stay on topic, and support each other.

The camp runs for just two weeks — after that, the forum and camp hub will close. Once it’s gone, it’s gone — and so is the chance to be part of our YouTube Showreel.
Don’t let this summer be another one of “we’ll try that later…”
This is the moment.
Say YES to skill-building, creativity, and coding confidence.
Just one simple decision that could spark a lifelong passion.

I am nine years old. And I love your channel!I found your channel when I was 7 years old. Since then, I have been coding in scratch. I have made many projects including:Custom 3D Raycasting, RPG with my own custom sprites, A plane shooter game, 2D classic platformer and much more including a few unfinished ones which are still under work. I can't wait to finish them with you and the entire Griffpatch community together!
This is Probably Going to be the Best Way im going to learn how to Scratch Even Better, Cuz i'm still learning scratch but i can find the right videos to help me get started ,some videos show the basis that i know and some videos show the more advanced thing i don't know so . since im still 11 ill try to get my parents to sign up and register on behalf of me
i’m especially exited for the competitions haha, this is amazing!
